Hozier – “Work Song”:

Following the massive hit “Take Me To Church”, Irish singer and songwriter Hozier has just released the visual for his latest single “Work Song”, taken from him self-titled debut album which was released in October 2014. The visuals, which debuted on Vevo on Monday, features Hozier performing in an abandoned church, in front of an audience of choreographed dancing couples. This video was directed by Isaac Ravishankara who captured the essence of this romantic track for Hozier. The track itself features a strong gospel intro, good work and a powerful chorus which make this song a potential hit and a worthy successor to Hozier’s well-known “Take Me The Church”. FKA Twigs – “Glass & Patron”:

As if there wasn’t any end to the talent of FKA Twigs, the 27 year-old singer has revealed a new, self-directed video for her track “Glass & Patron”. The song will be included on a new EP, scheduled for release later this year. However if it already sounds familiar, you may recognise “Glass & Patron” from FKA Twig’s Google Glass short film. Vicky Sola – “D.A.Y.S (EDM Remix)”:

Afro-pop artist Vicky Sola has released the visuals to the EDM remix of her single “D.A.Y.S”. The energetic, colourful video is a reflection of the song and Vicky Sola‘s personality as she encourages us to Dance Away Your Sorrows in life instead of being sad. The video features a cameo appearance from Afrikan Boy, who does exactly what the song says and dances away his sorrows as he escapes from his current realities of life. The “D.A.Y.S” remix is an up tempo electronic dance mix of the original track produced by Karham Cruz and was re-produced by Jay Jay Musika. The video was directed by Alexx Adjei for Press Play Vidz. J. Cole – “G.O.M.D”:

J. Cole has always put a lot of energy and dedication into his music videos. It’s an element of music that the rapper takes very seriously. In his latest, for the bumping “G.O.M.D”, the North Carolina emcee finds himself awkwardly positioned between the white owners of a plantation and the black people that work on it. It’s symbolic of how Cole’s felt his entire life being the son of a mixed race couple; slightly out of place, dealing with the struggle of a constant emotional tug-of-war of which side he identifies most with. Little Shells – “I’ll Remain”:

Singer/Songwriter Conchita Campos from Brooklyn, New York, has been compared to artists like Portishead and Beth Gibbons. That is easy to hear on her latest Project Little Shells, where the essence of Jazz and Soul + Conchita’s unique vocals and personal influences are found. Little Shells is a collaboration between Conchita and other diverse artists and musicians that are based in New York City, all helping to create the latest 8 track album 5 Deep Under. A mixture of orchestral breakdowns, calming saxophone parts, exceptional vocals and inclusion of possibly any instrument imaginable, this album could fall into many genres and appeal to any music lover. 5 Deep Under is due to be released on April 10, But you can listen to a preview of track 5 from the album, “I’ll Remain” down below.

Charli XCX – “Famous”:

British singer/songwriter Charli XCX has been invading the music scene for the past two years, with her bold chart topping collaborations and original material. Charli has been writing from an early age, and soon started sparking attention with her writing and work with different artists. She co-wrote Icona Pop’s “I Love It”, released for digital download in 2012, the track gave both artists their first US hit peaking at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. XCX also co-wrote and featured on Iggy Azalea’s 2014 hit single “Fancy”, which topped many international charts.

Playing on tours since 2011, alongside the likes of The Ting Tings, Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Marina & The Diamonds, Paramore and most recently Katy Perry, has really helped get her music noticed. Her 2014 solo single “Boom Clap” gave her, the first solo top 10 track of her career. Her second studio album Sucker is currently at #15 on the UK album chart. The video for “Sucker”, one of the songs from the albums, has been released to support this year’s YouTube Music Awards which was announced earlier today (March 23). A party pop song, with a video that conveys quite a strong message about our obsession with technology through creepy imagery, watch the video for “Famous” below.

The Darkness – “Open Fire”:

The Darkness are back with new track “Open Fire”, taken from their upcoming album Last Of Our Kind, which is scheduled for release on June 1. “Open Fire” is a textbook track, featuring everything we have come to expect from The Darkness – classic rock guitar riffs and the ever impressive wailing vocals of Justin Hawkins. The forthcoming album marks the fourth record for Justin Hawkins and co, following Hot Cakes in 2012. Check out “Open Fire” below.

Pinkshinyultrablast – “Ravestar Supreme”:

Russian shoegazers Pinkshinyultrablast (PSUB) have uploaded their new music video today for “Ravestar Supreme” on their YouTube channel and it’s a pretty wild experience. Directed by London filmmaker Timothy George Kelly, it’s a pixel tornado that illustrates the musicians using hypnotic static as ink. As unappealing as it sounds, it feels futuristic and innovative and it’s reminiscent of the appearance of Radiohead’s “House of Cards”, which used complex yet ground-breaking proximity sensors and 3-D state to create a grainy Thom Yorke.

Maybe they too will start to attract an array of technically advancing directors. Epileptics should be warned as the video ends with a pulsating flash of energy that is indeed associated with supreme raves and could be used to brainwash in a scientific experiment from Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. The promo fits perfectly with the PSUB’s wall of sound, distorted guitar, improvisation and lost vocals as well as the shape-shifting and nauseating textures heard on their debut album Everything Else Matters and continues their strict branding and image.
