There’s nothing more hopeful than Brits holding out for an Indian Summer with the rays gracing us with their presence all the way to September, grasping onto this hope is Portmeirion, the picturesque tourist town on the coast of North Wales which will be hosting the diverse and cultural Festival No.6.
By combining Music, Art and Culture over the course of the weekend, a line-up of entertainment has been announced for everyone. In previous years we have seen the likes of Bastille, Noel Gallagher and Metronomy performing and this year between the 7th and 10th of September, Bloc Party [Friday Night], The Flaming Lips [Saturday Night] and Mogwai [Sunday Night] will be taking to the headliner stage.
Covering a number of genres, fans of Rock & Roll, House, Techno and/or Folk will surely find something to add to their festival must-see.
On my list is Rag ‘n’ Bone Man who has had an incredible breakthrough in 2017, with the fastest selling male debut album and being crowned the British Breakthrough artist at this year’s BRITs. Also on the bill, and hoping to follow in his footsteps is the soulful Tim Grennan, at just 20 years old he is the most recent signing at Sony’s new ‘Insanity’ label, a definite one to watch.
An artist being welcomed back to Festival No.6 with opens arms is the incredible and cultural icon, Kate Tempest, who will be caressing the audience with her honesty and narratives through her music and lyrical poetry.
For all the arty folk out there, No.6 has a whole host of events to get you excited from comedy to screenings. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original summer of love as well as the ‘Sgt. Pepper’ album, there will be a themed carnival parading through the town ending up at the main stage. The 70-piece Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bootleg Beatles will be performing the album from start to finish, so Sgt. Pepper album fans watch out for this one!
If you want to escape from the musical madness, then get involved with the torchlight procession or be at one with your senses with mind & body experiences including yoga and massage opportunities. Get close to the water and take out a paddle board, take a dip in the pool or stay warm with the hot tub sessions.
Festival No.6 pride themselves in being a ‘high end’ event, so festival goers won’t be rolling around in the mud for four days. Standard price tickets for adults start from £180, VIP from £335 and the youngsters tickets starting from £130, VIP from £280 with under 10’s going free.
No.6 are ensuring you are fueled throughout and rather than living off breakfast biscuits and fries (trust me, I’ve been there), the food culture is nothing but on point with a variety of street food.
The choices will get your taste-buds tingling and your body re-energised for the rest of the day with options for those watching the pounds with healthy wraps and pho to those indulging on their break from reality, with delicious homemade burgers and filling stacked bagels.
