“I woke up pissed off today, lately everyone feels fake“. These are the lyrics that kick off the new track from up and coming star Troye Sivan titled “There For You“. This track is a collaboration with Dutch DJ Martin Garrix, who is known for his smash hit songs “Scared To Be Lonely” with Dua Lipa, and “In The Name Of Love” with Bebe Rexha.
21-year old Troye Sivan, is an Australian singer, actor and YouTube star. He released his first EP TRXYE back in 2014. This had huge success, reaching no.5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts. Martin Garrix, also a young star, is a Dutch record producer, DJ and Musician. Another music industry professional with a lot of strings to his bow. He was ranked at no.1 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs of 2016. So, the wonderful pairing of popstar Troye and DJ-tastic Martin, could only mean one thing… a cracking new track to kick off the summer and have blaring out at your bank holiday BBQ’s.
The song is a real upbeat pop-infused wonder of great music and perfect summer vibes. A love song to the fans according to Troye himself, tweeting earlier today “Not to be over dramatic but this song is in my eyes about you guys“.
The song is brilliant, mainly because I could quite easily listen to it with a Pina Colada in hand, sitting on the beach obtaining a golden tan. However, it’s also a song you would hear in nightclub. It’s electronic edge that makes you want to throw your hands in the air, is really something that I think sets this song apart from any other similar songs in the charts right now.
It’s chilled, calming use of floaty sounds transfer you onto the beach, feet in the crisp sand, appreciating the glorious heat. Sivan has a classic pop-star voice that works wonders with chart topper Garrix’s cool remixes and techno dance beats.
If you’re in the sun this weekend then stick this song on. I have no doubt it’ll put a smile on your face and awaken your inner confidence that the hot summer season longs to deliver.
