Lucas Sinclair

Boomtown. To many, just seeing this word will evoke a sense of joy and excitement and rightly so. Boomtown is a festival like no other, and in 2019, Boomtown Festival will be back for its 11th year, and it certainly won’t be one to miss.

Keep your diaries free for August 7-12 and prepare to dive into a world of magic, hidden treasures and incredible music! Boomtown is one of the largest independently run festivals in the UK and it is still growing, with a capacity of up to 66,000 and over 500 acts, this year being the largest chapter yet.

Boomtown has so many unique features that keep festival goers coming back for more, Boomtown is more than just a festival, it’s an experience like nothing you’ve seen before. I feel the aspect that makes Boomtown stand out from the crowd is its immense attention to artistic detail.

The set designers have artistic freedom when creating the different sets, which means the festival goers can be transported from a plain field to an immersive and exciting new world, delivering a captivating experience truly like no other. This year, there will be 14 districts for you to explore each one full of its own character and unique design.

So what is there in store this year to look forward to? Well for starters there will be a whole new district to explore. Area 404 will transport you to a post-apocalyptic world of what once was a land of booming technology. This district will be the home to boomtowns newest stage, nucleus.

In the heart of this deserted, industrial district this stage will host some of the biggest names in the electronic music scene, wth sounds of techno, house and acid. Some of the acts you have to look forward to on this stage will be Carl cox, Amelie Lens and Four tet.

This year, the line up is one of the biggest this festival has ever seen with the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Prophets of Rage, The Streets, Chronixx, Chase & Status, Groove Armada, Slaves and many more, check out the full line up here.

Alongside these huge headliners, you won’t be short of choice of acts as there will be over 500 artists performing over the three days. Chapter 11’s line up will be bringing you a perfect mixture of genres from Rock to Reggae to Hip Hop to Electro Swing, there will be something for everyone’s taste and plenty of new music to explore and enjoy. According to the organisers, “this is by far the most eclectic and diverse lineup we’ve ever had, it’s even more ‘Boomtown’ than ever before“.

Over recent years, it’s also becoming more apparent to us that our modern way of life is rapidly destroying the world we live in, and at an alarming rate. Boomtown has noticed the possible ramifications of not taking action, and have decided to do something about it, therefore the team have made their main focus this year, creating a weekend of fun, amazing atmosphere, music and creativity, without damaging the environment in the process.

The list of plans being put in place is huge, both behind the scenes with the set up and initiatives that have been put in place for preparation and during the weekend. This however is a joint effort and everyone will need to do their part to achieve the best results. It’s not just up to the organisers – we can all play a part in making sure Boomtown remains an environmentally-conscious event!

Consider ways of travelling to the festival that reduce carbon emissions – lift shares, carpooling and public transport such as trains and coaches really help keep transport as eco-friendly as possible. Please consider bringing your own reusable bottles to the event to cut down on single-use plastic waste and litter – keep Boomtown beautiful for everyone!

Most tents you cannot recycle, which means that thousands of tents a year get thrown in the tip. This year, spend a bit more on a tent that will last or book one of boomtowns pre pitched options here. If you want to learn anymore about what’s going on behind the scenes and what more you can do, head over to the boomtown website and read all about it.
